Manchester City receive Harry Kane boost and more transfer rumours

Manchester City might have received a potential transfer boost in their pursuit of Harry Kane this summer.

That's because The Athletic report Kane's relationship with Tottenham chairman and notoriously tough negotiator Daniel Levy has now completely broken down after the centre-forward made a public admission of his desire to leave for pastures new.

Kane, 27, revealed before this summer's European Championship that it is his intention to leave Spurs in the search of silverware, which immediately put the Blues and other elite clubs in Europe on high alert - his future won't be addressed until after Euro 2020, though.

While previous reports suggested City had submitted a £100m bid for Kane, the MEN understand no such approach was actually made, although those at the Etihad are known to be great admirers of the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak has made it clear City intend to find Sergio Aguero's long-term replacement and Kane could be the perfect candidate to replace the void left behind, although Tottenham are reluctant to sell Kane and their valuation is said to be substantial.

In more transfer news, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport report Inter Milan are interested in signing Benjamin Mendy this summer, with the Serie A winners currently looking in the transfer market to replace Ashley Young, who recently sealed a transfer to Aston Villa.

It's said that Mendy could be available - for what price is yet to be reported - but that Inter are wary of his poor injury record, despite having a track record of success in recent years when signing ageing or fringe players from Premier League clubs.

The MEN understand City signing a new left-back is unlikely unless someone in that position is sold.
