Manchester City players rock double denim as they jet off to Madrid

Footballers are known for their often extravagant style off the pitch compared to on it.

And the Manchester City players have committed themselves to the ultimate fashion statement as they made their way to Madrid on Tuesday.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero were snapped rocking the double denim ahead of their Champions League game with Real Madrid tomorrow night.

Think B*Witched' C'est La Vie circa 98 or maybe even Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake if you prefer - iconic.

Somebody clearly put the call in as Pep Guardiola's team all got the memo as each player showed up wearing the black t-shirt, blue-washed denim shirt and jeans combo.

And no, there wasn't any embarrassing 'I thought I was wearing that' moments.

The team were just showing off their latest collaboration with fashion brand Dsquared2.

The shirt was simply emblazoned with the words: "Dsquared 2 for Manchester City winter 2019."

The high-end fashion brand is Manchester City's exclusive Official Fashion Partner and according to the website they are "known for their tailoring and innovative cool denim" and "dress City’s players in their exclusive pre-match uniforms when they travel for Champions League games."

And City fans have been having their say on the attire - and it's not all pretty.

"Britney and Justin called. They want their denim back," tweeted one.

Another said: "BREAKING: Manchester City have their European ban increased to forever after turning out in this clobber for the trip to Madrid."

And Specsavers even got in on the action adding: "Can you please call us."

But in all seriousness, the Blues are in for a big 24 hours as they face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

It's business as usual for the team following the news that UEFA has banned the team from the competition for the next two seasons.

And who knows, double denim could help them make their mark.
