Manchester City 'monitoring' Newcastle target and other transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly 'monitoring' AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile as West Ham, Manchester United and Newcastle lurk.

The Magpies are looking to add to their winter additions following the arrivals of Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier as they look to bolster their defensive ranks.

Eddie Howe's side sit in the bottom three and have been heavily linked with the Monaco centre-back, but his recent injury trouble could hamper a move to the North East.

The Blues are typically quiet in the January window and already they have allowed multiple youngsters to depart on loan including Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who signed for Stoke City.

According to French outlet RMC Sport, Pep Guardiola's side are monitoring the situation surrounding the 20-year-old but they aren't looking to sign him this month.

They continue to report that City will only intensify their interest if they can cash in on Nathan Ake with David Moyes' side looking for defensive solutions after Angelo Ogbonna was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Blues Dutchman has been touted away from Manchester with AC Milan uttered amongst the interested parties following the long-term loss of Simon Kjaer.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have reportedly made contact with the agent of Erling Haaland.

The German giants are keeping a close eye on any developments in the Norwegian's future with a number of clubs eyeing his services in the summer.

Julian Nagelsmann's side are said to be on standby, according to BILD, in the event that star forward Robert Lewandowski doesn't extend at the Allianz Arena.
