Manchester City mock Liverpool's 'This Means More' message amid 4-1 win at Anfield

Manchester City could not resist a cheeky dig at Liverpool during their big win at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola 's men ran out 4-1 winners in Sunday's Premier League showdown on Merseyside.

The victory sent City five points clear of Manchester United at the top of the table, with a game in hand.

And they are now 10 points ahead of fourth-placed Liverpool, who suffered a third consecutive home defeat.

Liverpool's hopes of retaining the title they won last season were dealt another major blow by City, who are now unbeaten in 21 matches in all competitions and have won 14 in a row.

It was goalless at the break after Ilkay Gundogan missed a first-half penalty.

However, Gundogan made amends by breaking the deadlock early in the second half.

Mohamed Salah equalised from the penalty spot for Liverpool but two costly blunders in quick succession from goalkeeper Alisson turned the game back in City's favour.

The Brazilian gave the ball away on both occasions, allowing Gundogan and Raheem Sterling to score.

Phil Foden then added a superb fourth to put the icing on the cake for the visitors.

After Foden scored, a photograph of the players celebrating the goal was posted from the City's official Twitter account.

The accompanying caption took inspiration from their opponents' slogan: "We are Liverpool. This means more."

It read: "THIS MEANS FOUR!"

City fans certainly enjoyed the post, with one replying: "Cheeky that."

Another tweeted: "I see what you did there! "

Meanwhile, a third added: "The tweet of the day."
