Manchester City midfielder open to club signing Cenk Tosun from Everton

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says he would welcome the signing of Everton striker Cenk Tosun.

Gundogan, who helped the Citizens to the Premier League title last season, has praised the 29-year-old who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while on-loan at Crystal Palace earlier this year.

Tosun has scored 10 goals in 51 appearances for Everton since making a £27m switch from Besiktas in January 2018 and Gundogan has identified both him and Turkey team-mate Caglar Soyuncu as two who could make the cut at the Etihad.

“I agree with the general opinion of the football public," he told Fanatik.

"In this season, Çaglar Soyuncu had the best performance in the Premier League after Virgil Van Dijk. The first thing that comes to my mind about the Turkish player I want to see in Manchester City is Caglar.

"I can also count Cenk Tosun, he may be at this level in the coming periods. I think he also played well, suffering an unlucky injury.

"He also scored a goal in the match we played at home with Crystal Palace. I think he's open [available] in the Premier League."
