Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola provides fresh Kevin De Bruyne injury update

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Kevin De Bruyne's injury is small and reiterated he would be assessed ahead of the Premier League clash against Wolves at the weekend.

The playmaker was ruled out of the Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb with a groin problem suffered during the win against Everton.

Prior to the game, Guardiola revealed the problem wasn't big.

Asked how long De Bruyne would be missing for, he said: "I don't know.

"He's a little bit injured, not a big one.

"Today he wasn't able [to play].

"We will see next Sunday."

Earlier, Man City issued a statement on the Belgium international's fitness, revealing his comeback would depend on how his body reacted to treatment.

They said: "Kevin De Bruyne suffered a groin injury in the win over Everton and will miss tonight’s game against Dinamo Zagreb.

"The extent of his layoff depends on how well he responds to the rehabilitation programme overseen by the Club’s medical staff.

"The Belgian has been superb for City so far this season, registering a remarkable nine assists in nine games.

"Everyone at City wishes Kevin a speedy recovery and we all look forward to seeing back in blue soon."
