Pep Guardiola categorically denies Juventus manager links after Manchester City beat Watford

Pep Guardiola has categorically denied reports suggesting that he is set to leave Manchester City and become the manager of Juventus this summer.

Reports in Italy on Friday suggested that Guardiola had reached a verbal agreement to replace Massimiliano Allegri in Turin.

Guardiola signed a contract extension at City last year which is expected to see him stay until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The City manager himself reiterated his commitment to the Etihad club after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Watford, claiming him leaving City early and of his own accord is “impossible”.

“I know today social media has an influence but I don’t understand why when Twitter says something, everybody in the big news pages says Pep is going to Juventus,” he said.

“I don’t understand. I don’t understand why they don’t try to call the club, call myself or my agent or call Juventus or Massimiliano Allegri. I’m sorry for Massimiliano.

“I have two more years here and I’m not going to move. Impossible, except if they sack me and after I go home.

“But if Manchester City wants me, I will stay two more years by far and hopefully another one. I’m not going to go to Juventus in the next two seasons.”

Guardiola signed his new contract at the Etihad in May 2018 after leading City to a record-breaking Premier League title win.

The champions are hoping to defend their title this season and moved four points clear at the top of the table with Saturday’s victory.
