Manchester City loan goalkeeper Aro Muric endures 'debut to forget' for Nottingham Forest

It was an opening day defeat for Nottingham Forest as they were beaten 2-1 by West Bromwich Albion.

Matty Cash had got the hosts off to a great start, but goals from Kyle Edwards and Matt Phillips clinched the three points for the visitors.

Here’s how Sarah Clapson rated the Reds players at the City Ground.

Arijanet Muric: A debut to forget for the Manchester City loanee. Should have saved the visitors’ equaliser, then beaten by a freak shot for the winner. Needs to pick himself up now. Rating: 5/10

Matty Cash: Can we give him two separate marks - one for his attacking play and the other for defensive work? Lovely goal. But just didn’t look all that comfortable at right-back. Rating: 6/10

Joe Worrall: Did his best to try to gee up his teammates as they tried to find a way back into the game. Did okay, making some decent blocks when the Baggies pressed. Rating: 6/10

Michael Dawson: Good to see him back in the Garibaldi after his injury problems last term, even if he did look a little rusty at times. Rating: 6/10

Jack Robinson: A typically steady performance from the left-back. Did a decent enough job defensively and tried to push forward. Rating: 6/10

Alfa Semedo: The pick of the debutants. Has the potential to be a very good addition, if this game is anything to go by. Proved to be a real handful. Rating: 7/10

Ben Watson: Didn’t do too badly, acting as a shield in front of the back four. The Reds suffered from a lack of pace in midfield, though. Rating: 6/10

Joe Lolley: Wasn’t for lack of effort, but just couldn’t find the spark Forest desperately needed. Not at his rampaging, destructive best. Rating: 6/10

Tiago Silva: Drifted in and out of the game. Some good moments, with the summer signing able to put a decent cross in and tidy in possession. But went a bit quiet at times. Rating: 6/10

Albert Adomah: Had a good game. Linked up well with Cash down the right-hand side, including for the opening goal. A promising debut. Rating: 7/10

Lewis Grabban: Suffered from a distinct lack of service and support for much of the game. Barely got a look-in in front of goal, but didn’t look sharp. Rating: 5/10

Brennan Johnson (for Semedo, 88): Great to see the youngster given his chance, even if the result didn’t go the hosts’ way. Rating: 6/10
