Manchester City handed major Kevin De Bruyne injury blow

Manchester City look to have been handed a major injury blow after Kevin De Bruyne was forced off with another knee injury during the Blues' Premier League game against Tottenham.

De Bruyne's discomfort was evident after his left knee appeared to jar when taking a long-range shot around 10 minutes before half-time.

He was seen to by City's medical staff before being withdrawn, with the Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho coming on in his place.

De Bruyne has missed large chunks of City's season having already suffered two major knee injuries earlier on in the campaign.

Gary Neville believes the large amount of games De Bruyne has played of late contributing to him breaking down in the first half against Spurs.

"De Bruyne was outstanding at Crystal Palace last week," Neville said on Sky Sports. "He’s played Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday lunchtime and it’s just taken its toll I think.

"You watch him play live and he’s an absolute joy but physically he’s found it difficult to handle this season.

What Man City staff members have told Manchester United legend Gary Nevile about Phil Foden

"If you’re looking at edges and little bit of things, that could give Liverpool a boost. De Bruyne going off and thinking he might be out for the rest of the season."

Jamie Redknapp added: “I just hope it’s not his knee because that’s the worry because he’s been having problems with his knee for a while now and that’s the last thing he wants.

"I hope it’s nothing too serious because when you come to a football game, you want to see a Kevin De Bruyne and the form he is in right now.”
