Manchester City given big Kevin De Bruyne injury scare ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester City may have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of their big Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Arsenal have enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, picking up nine points from their first four games, as many as champions Liverpool.

That form has led to talk of Mikel Arteta's men challenging for the title, and this Sunday, their title credentials will be tested by a Manchester City side who are desperate to put a disappointing start to the campaign behind them.

But ahead of the game, Man City have been dealt a potentially huge blow with Kevin De Bruyne apparently suffering an injury during international duty.

Belgium's official Twitter account this evening confirmed De Bruyne has returned to Man City, 'not fit enough' to feature in the Red Devils' Nations League clash with Iceland on Wednesday.

The tweet read: "UPDATE: @DeBruyneKev returned to his club. He couldn’t be fit enough to play against Iceland."

De Bruyne played 73 minutes in Belgium's 2-1 defeat to England on Sunday.

It seems he now faces a battle for fitness to feature against Arsenal and if he is to be absent, it would be a crushing blow for Man City.

De Bruyne was the Premier League assist leader last season with 20 and the Premier League's Player of the Season.
