Manchester City fans say the same thing as Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer start vs West Ham

Manchester City fans were a happy bunch ahead of kick-off on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola gave Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer a start against West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

The Hammers stand in the way of Manchester City's hopes of pursuing their hopes of a fifth successive Carabao Cup triumph as a win would see them move into the last eight for yet another year.

The League Cup is a competition that Guardiola is fond of having won six times during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola rang wholesale changes from the side that dismantled Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Raheem Sterling missed out from the matchday squad last time out with a back problem but he was named in the starting line-up for the trip to East London whilst Samuel Edozie made the bench for the first time this season, he again was amongst the subs.

The Blues are already amongst the competitions top goalscorers this season after netting six against Wycombe in the third round as the Spaniard gave debuts to each member of the back four that started in the win over Gareth Ainsworth's League One side.

Cole Palmer netted his first senior goal in that 6-1 win and added to this first-team tally in the Champions League as City again ran riot again this time beating Club Brugge and he was rewarded with a start.

All delighted with the team, here's how fans reacted.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Sunderland all made it through on Tuesday night with the latter two requiring penalties to see off their opponents as the Black Cats reached the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign.

West Ham edged past City's rivals Manchester United in the third round to set up the clash and elsewhere in the draw Liverpool travelled to Deepdale whilst it was two all-Premier League clashes as Burnely hosted Spurs with Saturday's beaten opponents, Brighton, travelling to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.

Manchester City team to play West Ham: Steffen, Walker, Stones, Ake, Zinchenko, Fernandinho (C), Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Palmer.
