Manchester City fans in meltdown after Kevin De Bruyne setback ahead of Tottenham final

Manchester City fans are suddenly getting a little nervous ahead of next week's Carabao Cup final after losing a key player this evening.

Ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium, Pep Guardiola's City took on Chelsea in an FA Cup semi-final today, losing 1-0 after Hakim Ziyech's second-half winner.

City struggled to test Chelsea in what was a disappointing display from Guardiola's men as they missed out on an FA Cup final spot, which will now be made up of Chelsea and one of Southampton or Leicester City.

The defeat will be a sour note on an excellent season for City, but there was an even more painful moment when midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne limped off with an ankle injury.

Just three minutes into the second half, De Bruyne had to be replaced by Phil Foden, and there will now be doubts whether one of City's most dangerous players will be fit to play next weekend against Tottenham.

De Bruyne is key for Guardiola's men, and City fans are now worried about how his injury could impact their chances of winning yet another Carabao Cup next weekend.

Here's what some fans have had to say on social media this evening.

Guardiola will now be forced to sweat on the fitness of De Bruyne, and the Spaniard is set to give an update on his condition after the game.

The Belgian midfielder does have plenty of injury history, but he hasn't had too many problems with his ankles, last suffering an ankle injury during the 2019/20 season, according to Transfermarkt, when he missed just two games.

Man City also have to play Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
