Manchester City evening headlines as Nathan Ake poised for transfer

Here are your Manchester City evening headlines for Thursday July 30.

City close to completing Ake deal

Manchester City are on the verge of completing a £40million deal for Nathan Ake.

They are in advanced talks with Bournemouth and look set to sign the centre-back in the coming days.

An agreement has not yet been reached, but City are believed to be close to securing Ake’s transfer.

Pep Guardiola is looking to strengthen his defensive options following last summer’s departure of Vincent Kompany and questions surrounding the futures of Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones.

Ake, 25, made 29 appearances in the Premier League this season but couldn’t prevent Bournemouth’s relegation.

Torres signing edging closer

City are also in the advanced stages of a deal to sign Valencia winger Ferran Torres.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye in La Liga this season and has been identified as the ideal replacement for Leroy Sane.

Torres is in the final year of his contract, so a relatively inexpensive initial fee of £21m looks to be enough to reach an agreement.

There could be further add-ons of around £10.5m, but City are clearly impressed by what they have seen of Torres.

The youngster has scored four goals and provided five assists in 34 league appearances for Valencia this season.

City confirm first summer signing

The arrival of Mechelen defender Issa Kabore has been confirmed as City complete their first transfer of the window.

The 19-year-old right-back arrives with much less fanfare than both Ake and Torres, given that he has immediately returned to Belgium on loan.

The Burkina Faso international signed a five-year contract at the Etihad having impressed at Mechelen.

“This is a win-win situation for all parties,” said the club’s sporting director Tom Caluwe. “The player himself dreams of the Premier League and can calmly prepare for that step with us. City has a clear path in mind and indicated that our club is important for the further development of Kaboré. And this way we can still keep Issa in Mechelen.”
