Man City draw Wycombe Wanderers in Carabao Cup third round

Manchester City will kick-off their latest Carabao Cup defence against League One side Wycombe Wanderers in a third round tie.

Chasing an unprecedented quadruple last season, Pep Guardiola and his star-studded squad instead had to settle for two trophies - the Premier League and a domestic competition they have enjoyed a monopoly on during these past few years.

Indeed, by reigning supreme at Wembley Stadium against Harry Kane and Tottenham last April, the Blues ensured that particular piece of silverware returned to the Etihad Stadium for a fourth straight campaign.

But will they make it a five-star triumph this time around?

Jack Grealish has been signed for £100million to help them in that particular quest - and others in the shape of the Premier League and Champions League; the draw for which will be made tomorrow afternoon at 5pm.

As is customary in the Carabao Cup, though, big hitters such as City are set to enter at the third round stage.

In that respect, first up for Guardiola and co this season is a home tie against Gareth Ainsworth's men at the Etihad Stadium.

A number of teams from lower down the EFL pyramid remain in the competition, such as League Two neighbours Rochdale and recently-promoted Cheltenham from League One.

As things stand, round three matches will take place on the week commencing September 20.

Meanwhile, for clubs who already have one eye on the Wembley showpiece - including City and United - that will take place beneath the famous arch on Sunday, February 27.

Exact dates, kick-off times and TV schedules for the above ties will be announced in due course.
