Manchester City dealt injury blow as Rodri could miss crucial Liverpool match

Manchester City have been dealt a potential injury blow ahead of next month's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Summer signing Rodri had to be replaced after pulling up during City's 5-1 hammering of Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The defensive midfielder, who was playing at centre-half alongside Fernandinho, went down clutching his hamstring during the first half.

John Stones came on to replace the Spain international, and after the game Pep Guardiola provided an injury update on Rodri.

The Spaniard told reporters: "Hopefully it will be 10 days if [his hamstring] is not broken. If it is broken it will be three weeks or one month.

"I didn't speak with Rodri or the doctor just yet but looks like a hamstring.

"When one guy runs and puts their hand in the hamstring position, it is a hamstring. It looks like."

Left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko was not in the team after City confirmed the 22-year-old had suffered a knee injury.

Liverpool currently sit six points clear of their Premier League title rivals who are set to visit Anfield on November 10.
