Bursaspor have allowed their highly-rated striker Enes Unal permission to travel to England to discuss a possible deal with Manchester City.

The 18-year-old, who won his first senior cap for Turkey in the 2-1 victory against Luxembourg in March, is likely to command a fee of around £500,000.

The Bursaspor president, Recep Bolukbasi, said on Thursday that they had reached an agreement with City and that he thought the transfer would go through at the weekend.

The player’s agent, Batur Altiparmak, added: “An agreement in principle has been reached. Bursaspor have given Enes permission to have a medical at Manchester City.”

Unal would become the first Turkish player to join Manchester City should the deal go ahead and the youngest Super Lig player to make a move to the Premier League. Bursaspor have a reputation for developing forwards and recently sold the 19-year-old striker Batuhan Altıntas to Hamburg for £350,000.

Unal had an extraordinary goal ratio at youth level, attracting scouts from across Europe after scoring 182 goals in 110 appearances for the Bursaspor reserves. He also netted 24 times in 25 international games for Turkey at Under-16 level before being fast tracked into the Under-19 and Under-21 sides.

The City target also became the youngest player, aged 16, to score in the Super Lig when he netted against Galatasaray on 1 August 2013. Unal has a total of seven first–team goals to his name for the Bursaspor and scored once every 197 minutes of league football last season.
