Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has given an update on Arsenal's pursuit of Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners are in talks with the former Everton and Arsenal captain about potentially succeeding Unai Emery as the permanent manager at the Emirates Stadium.
The 37-year-old has been Guardiola's assistant at the Etihad Stadium since 2016, but is expected to make the move back to north London.
Arsenal chief Vinai Venkatesham and chief negotiator Huss Fahmy were spotted outside Arteta's house in the North West following the Gunners' 3-0 defeat to City on Sunday, and football.london understand that significant strides have been taken since then in the hope of appointing Arteta in the coming days .
The club also want to retain Freddie Ljungberg as an assistant to Arteta following his spell as interim head coach since Emey's departure.
But Guardiola told journalists in a press conference that while he was aware of the meeting between Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy, nothing has changed yet, despite continuing talks.
"No," he replied when asked if there was any update.
"Today I saw him. Yes, he's travelling [to Oxford for City's Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday].
"When we so smart to pick him up and other clubs want him. He's an incredible person. A good manager, good work ethic, that's why he's with us.
"He's talking with Arsenal so I don't know what's going to happen.
"Yes, I was aware [of the meeting]. He was incredibly honest and transparent with me.
"The club is always live. People today and then maybe tomorrow not here. Now he is part of our group and staff and stays here. When we have any new news I will know it and you will know it. He trained today, and that's all."
