Manchester City ace makes huge Marcelo Bielsa claim

Marcelo Bielsa has an army of fans at Elland Road.

And it would appear his stock is high elsewhere too.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino counts Bielsa as his mentor, with the Argentine building quite the reputation in the Premier League before his sacking earlier this season.

Bielsa will be hoping to become a Premier League manager come the end of this season, by guiding the Whites to the top flight when football returns following the coronavirus pandemic.

And it would be just rewards for Bielsa, according to another - Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.

Frenchman Laporte played under Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao in Spain for one season before the Argentinian left at the end of his contract.

Laprote spent a further five years in Spain before making a big-money move to the Premier League with Manchester City, where he works under Pep Guardiola - widely considered to be one of the best coaches around.

But Laporte puts Bielsa in that bracket too, with comments that will delight Leeds fans moving forward.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live about Guardiola and Bielsa, Laporte said: "I think they are maybe the best two managers in the world.

"They are very different but they know everything about football – different things, but they know everything."

High praise indeed and it may not be long before we see who comes out on top in the Premier League.
