Manchester Christmas Market stalls closing - and the sales have begun

After a hectic return this year, the majority of Manchester Christmas Markets stalls are preparing for one final day of sales on Wednesday.

And yes, that means the return of some closing down offers and discounts at the festive stalls that have spread across the city centre this year.

Stalls along Market Street, Exchange Square, New Cathedral Street, St Ann's Square and King Street will all finish trading at 6pm on Wednesday, December 22.

However this year there will be extended Christmas opening at the Winter Gardens zone at Piccadilly Gardens and at Cathedral Gardens, which will remain open until January 2 (although they will be closed on Christmas Day).

But on Tuesday, the discounting had already begun on many of the stalls, in a bid to shift final stock before the Christmas closure.

For those eyeing a bargain at the markets, look out for two-for-one offers and multi-buy offers across a range of retail stalls in the city centre on Wednesday.

On King Street and Exchange Square, that includes two-for-one on Christmas ornaments at Manchester Wonder, ready-mixed cocktails at Small Batch Cocktails on offer for 5 for £20 (down from 2 for £10).

At the Great British Cheese company's five stalls across the city you can find what they're billing their cheeky "Number 10" offer on cheeses for 3 for £10 (down from 3 for £13), with cheese crackers down to £1.

Foodie bargains continue on New Cathedral Street, where you can pick up homemade loaf cakes and chocolate yule logs at a discount down from £4 to £2.50 each.

On stalls close to the Corn Exchange you can find a host of Christmas decorations now on sale, at half price, or a bargainous five for £5 deal.

However, most of the hot food and drink stalls we spoke to on Tuesday said they are not planning any special discounts on the final day so expect to pay the standard price for your sausage and gluhwein.

Council bosses say the 2021 return of the Christmas Markets has been one of the busiest ever years since its return on Friday, November 12.
