Manchester brewer Seven Brothers to open four new beer houses after crowdfunding target 'smashed'

A Manchester brewer has announced it will open four new beer houses across the UK after "smashing" its crowdfunding target.

Seven Brothers said it was forced to pause plans on a new Liverpool bar when the UK entered lockdown in March, but now thanks to a crowdfunding campaign that raised over £400,000 from a target of £200,000, the opening is now back on.

Additionally, the group will open a bar in Leeds next year and will support the opening of two more beer houses by 2022.

Seven Brothers brewing co-CEO Keith McAvoy said: “We’ve built a business on core values around simplicity, transparency, locality and family – now we have extended our family even further with 1,000 new investors.

"We are excited to have come out of lockdown, seeing our beer houses reopen and web shop thrive.

"This month we celebrate six years of Seven Brothers, we are grateful to everyone who has supported our business and invested, we promise to make you proud of your investment.”

At the beginning of July, the company reopened its Middlewood Locks and Ancoats beer houses and newly refurbished Salford taproom under social distancing restrictions.

Since crowd funding in 2016, the brewery saw a 181% growth in business revenue between 2017 and 2019.

The brewhouse has increased capacity by over 800% in five years, and is available in Co-op, Booths stores and Ocado.

Those who invested more than £250 in the 2020 fund will receive birthday beers and discounts online and in the beer houses.

The brothers, who have two beer houses and a taproom in Manchester, will also be opening a partnership bar in Manchester Airport’s new terminal two when it reopens as part of a lucrative 10-year deal.
