Manchester bombing: Critically injured mother unconscious and 'unaware youngest daughter is dead'

A mother who was critically injured during the Manchester attack is reportedly unaware that her youngest daughter has died.

Lisa Roussos, 48, remains critically injured in intensive care. It is not known if she was told the news about her daughter before she was heavily sedated.

Her daughter, Saffie Rose Roussos, 8, is the youngest person known to have been killed in the bombing.

Friend of the family Salman Patel, described Saffie as “cheerful, chatty and delightful”.

He told MailOnline: “Saffie’s sadly passed away and her mother, we understand, isn’t aware. I am praying for the family, it is totally heartbreaking.

“I am praying the mum pulls through and copes with the tragedy of finding out when she does about her daughter.”

A total of 22 people were killed and 59 injured, many of them children, in the attack.

It was the worst on British soil since 56 people died in 2005's 7 July London bombings.

The suspected suicide bomber has been named as Salman Abedi, 22, a UK-born student of Libyan extraction.
