Manchester Blitz: Read through memorials to hundreds of civilians killed in 1940 Christmas bombardment

More than 800 civilians are now known to have been killed by two nights of Nazi bombing across Manchester in December 1940.

Most of these have been recorded by the Commonwealth and War Graves Commission and made publicly available.

You can read through memorials selected at random from the hundreds of civilian deaths by clicking on the green button below and viewing them one-by-one.

Each memorial records the full name and age of the victim and gives the location of the bomb blast which fatally injured them.
