A man was dramatically arrested at gunpoint in connection with the Manchester suicide bombing.
Police detained the man in Nuneaton on Wednesday night as counter terror operations were stepped up across the country to identify a terror network behind Monday’s suicide bombing.
The identity of the arrested man has not been released but a property in Earls Road was reportedly being searched in relation to the arrest.
Witnesses described armed police swooping with laser-sighted guns and a Taser, ordering the man to stay still or be shot, it was reported.
One resident, whose flat overlooks the scene, described seeing the man being tasered as police pointed guns at him.
"I was in the bedroom and I saw two police come over the road with guns and a taser," Lee Paget said.
"The lad was on the floor and there were officers blocking the road off with cars. He just lay there and they had guns with green lasers pointed at him.
"Then the police went to the boot of a car and got out boiler suits and put them on. They took their time."
According to witnesses, officers then placed see-through plastic bags on the man's hands and feet and then asked him to step into a protective forensic suit.
A woman who also saw the arrest added: "They asked him about a mobile phone and they turned around and took that.
"They then said 'We're going to get you up' and we want you to put your feet in these bags.
"They put him in a white hooded outfit like a forensic-type suit and then took him away."
Greater Manchester Police confirmed eight people had been arrested since Salman Abedi detonated a suicide bomb at Manchester Arena, killing 22 people and injuring dozens more.
“They are all men. A woman who was arrested yesterday has since been released. The arrests have taken place in Manchester, Wigan and Nuneaton. We are now carrying out associated searches at a number of addresses,” Greater Manchester chief constable Ian Hopkins said.
