Manchester Arndale shopping centre confirms late opening hours once national lockdown ends

Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre will offer late night opening hours when the national lockdown ends.

The shopping complex in Manchester city centre has remained open throughout the lockdown so that customers can access essential shops such as Aldi, Wilko and Superdrug.

But it's preparing for a sharp upswing in footfall from Wednesday (December 2) when all non-essential shops will be allowed to reopen.

This will apply to shops in all areas across England, no matter whether they are in Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3.

Bosses at the Arndale have tonight confirmed that the centre will offer Christmas late night opening hours from Wednesday and into the festive season.

Currently, the opening hours on the website are listed as 9am to 8pm from Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays and 11.30am to 5.30pm on Sundays.

Some stores inside the shopping centre may vary their offering.

Food and drink outlets inside the Arndale are only allowed to offer takeaway and delivery under the region's strict Tier 3 restrictions.

In a post on Facebook, bosses at the Arndale said: "In line with the latest Government announcement, Manchester Arndale will be open under Tier 3 guidelines from Wednesday 2nd December.

"We will commence our Christmas late night opening hours on this day to allow you more flexibility on when you choose to shop.

"Our food & beverage outlets will open to offer takeaway or delivery only.

"A limited number of retailers will remain closed under Tier 3, and some stores may vary their offering, so please do contact the individual brand via their own social media channels if you have a specific trip in mind.

"Visit our website to view our Christmas opening hours and read more about the work we're doing to help keep you safe."
