The managing director of a Cumbria -headquartered textbook publishing company, whose products are used in schools across the country, has stepped down.

Jane Ross had held the position at Coordination Group Publications (CGP) since March 2015, having first joined the Broughton In Furness-based business as its publishing and finance director in February 2003.

Before that, she had been head of finance at Manchester Airport from June 2001 to February 2003 after working as a senior manager at PwC since September 1993.

CGP was founded in 1995 by Richard Parsons and covers a range of school subjects at Key Stages one, two and three as well as GCSEs and A-Levels.

According to its most recently available accounts filed with Companies House, the business achieved a turnover of £36.2m in the year to August 31, 2019 and pre-tax profits of £13.7m.

The company sold more than 12 million products in 2020, according to its website.

Documents filed with Companies House also confirmed that Mrs Ross is no longer a person with "significant control" in the business.
