Manager says he isn't getting "much luck" as Neilston are struck with more injuries

Neilston manager Chris Cameron feels he can’t catch a break with injuries striking once again as the Farmer’s boys drew with Bonnyton Thistle.

Cameron’s side had seven players out due to injuries and other commitments who would normally be in the squad .

Neilston hosted bottom-of-the-table Bonnyton Thistle at the Brig O’Lea Stadium as the home side looked to push further up the table.

Cameron described Bonnyton Thistle as a “big and physical” side that he knew would cause problems for his team and that proved to be the case as the away side took the lead early in the first half.

It didn't stay like this for long as the home side seemed to have found their voice and kicked back into action and equalised later on in the half through an own goal after a lovely move from the Farmer’s Boys.

The game finished all level with a few chances in the second half, but Cameron was disappointed to be dropping points at home.

The Neilston boss said: “We aren’t getting much luck with injuries right now as you can see with the team today.

“We had a few trialists along with boys from the under-20s who had been called up to play and fill in. I have got to give them credit as they played well considering not many of them have had minutes.

“We had around seven bodies who would have been in and around the squad missing, so we were lacking some experience. However, I know we shouldn’t be dropping points at home.

"But looking at the bigger picture a point is decent, all things considered.

"We aren't training properly to try and nurture the squad and prevent more injuries."

Neilston look forward to now playing Gartcairn at home on Saturday at 2pm, with the visiting side currently sitting in ninth and Farmer’s Boys occupying fourth.
