Manager's 'blunt' response when asked about interest in Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings

It seems there will be no chance of a return to one of his former clubs for out-of-favour Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings.

The Scot is among a group of players understood to have been told they are free to move on from the City Ground.

He was linked with a move to Swansea City earlier this month, but finds himself still on the lookout for a new club.

It was at Hibernian where Cummings made a name for himself, with his goalscoring exploits for the Scottish side earning him a move to the Reds in the summer of 2017.

But Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom has ruled out a return for the 24-year-old, despite potentially being in the market for a front man.

Cummings netted 69 goals in 148 appearances during his time in the green and white shirt, but has struggled to hit the same kind of heights since signing for Forest.

He has had loan spells at Rangers, Peterborough United and Luton Town, and last wore the Garibaldi in December 2017.

Hibs are said to have a number of teams interested in taking young forward Oli Shaw on loan.

Heckingbottom has said Shaw will only be allowed to depart if another striker replaces him at Easter Road – but he ruled out that player being Cummings.

Asked if there was any interest in the Reds front man, the Edinburgh Evening News report "he replied bluntly, 'no'".
