Rashad Evans isn’t done yet.
According to his manager Ali Abdelaziz, Evans is out of retirement and discussions are already underway for his return matchup.
Abdelaziz broke the news through ESPN on Friday. It’s unclear which combat sport Evans plans to compete in, but Abdelaziz included that his fighter has his sights set on YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul, as well as boxing legend Roy Jones Jr.
At the time of publication, Evans has not commented on his return.
Evans, 41, has not fought since UFC 225 in June 2018 when he was knocked out by Anthony Smith. Weeks after the loss, Evans announced his retirement from competition. The decision came on the heels of a five-fight losing streak, which included two knockout losses.
In 2019, Evans was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Around the time of his induction, Evans hinted he was considering a return to combat sports competition.
“I changed my diet after I retired and it’s drastically changed my body and how I feel,” Evans said in an interview with ESPN. “I am definitely heavily thinking about coming back.”
Evans’ storied career includes wins over Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Forrest Griffin, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Chael Sonnen, Dan Henderson, and Michael Bisping among others. He won the UFC light heavyweight championship against Forrest Griffin in 2008 and challenged a second time in 2012 though he lost a unanimous decision to then-champion Jon Jones.
