Manager promises to reject late bids for player linked with Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Celtic

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has promised to reject any late bids for his star players.

Bristol City have been linked with a move for Scott McKenna along with Nottingham Forest and Celtic after the Robins previously held interest in the defender in the summer.

That was after the departure of Adam Webster, with the Robins subsequently going on to sign Ashley Williams on a free transfer.

Yet Bailey Wright's move to Sunderland has left City looking a little short of depth at the back.

Aberdeen were furious in the summer when McKenna handed in a transfer request late in the window and subsequently rejected deadline-day bids from QPR and Sheffield Wednesday for the player.

Speaking to the Evening Express, McInnes said the earlier the better for any clubs looking to sign his players.

He said: "I would rather there was no interest at all.

"But clearly it is in everybody’s interest if we are going to get bids for players or potentially lose players, it would be earlier to deal with it."

He added: "There have been enquiries and conversations about one or two of our players, but there have been no bids.

"There is nothing that is going to scare us about losing any of our players.

"There has been a bit of interest, but nothing that we think will be of any real concern to us."
