Manager hopeful Nottingham Forest will make Tyler Walker transfer decision

Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton says he is still waiting to find out whether Nottingham Forest will recall striker Tyler Walker this month.

The Reds frontman is currently down to spend the season on loan with the Imps, but Forest do have the option of recalling the 23-year-old before the window closes on Friday.

It is an option they have been considering as head coach Sabri Lamouchi looks to bolster his attacking resources, with bringing in a striker a priority before Friday’s deadline.

So far this season, Walker has bagged 16 goals in 34 appearances for the League One side, leading sections of Forest supporters to urge Lamouchi to bring the striker back to the City Ground.

With the deadline at 11pm on Friday, Forest do not have long if they do decide to recall the forward for the second half of the season.

Asked if he was closer to finding out about the future of his loanees, Appleton told Lincolnshire Live: “I hope so. We haven’t got much time.

“I’d like to think, from a courtesy point of view, that the loan lads in the building now will be here beyond Friday. If that’s the case I’ll be delighted.”

Walker had to settle for a place on the bench for Lincoln’s 2-0 defeat to Portsmouth on Tuesday night, and Appleton explained why he was not in the starting line-up.

“He had a dead leg [picked up at Ipswich on Saturday] and didn’t train yesterday [Monday],” said Appleton.

“But it’s important to rotate the players and keep them as fresh as we possibly can.

“He had his half-an-hour tonight so he’ll be nice and fresh and raring to go on Saturday [against Southend].”
