Manager confirms transfer 'proposal' for Nottingham Forest target after huge blow

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage addressed Willy Boly's absence in the Carabao Cup tie against Preston North End amid reports linking him with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Wolves sealed a 2-1 win over Preston at Molineux on Tuesday evening to book a spot in the third round of the competition. Forest target Boly was left out of the match day squad, but Lage revealed that was down to injury but did confirm a proposal has been received for the player.

Forest boss Steve Cooper is on the lookout for another centre-back following new arrival Moussa Niakhate's hamstring injury, which will see him sidelined for 'a few months'. Meanwhile, Boly is yet to feature for Lage this season and is in the final year of his contract at Wolves.

Forest had an offer said to be worth £1 million rejected by Wolves, who are reportedly willing to sell at the right place. It has been claimed that the Reds are "likely" to launch a fresh bid of £2m.

Speaking after his side's win over Preston, Lage said of Boly's absence: "The only thing I can say is that Boly with me, top behaviour, good professional, he respects my opinions, but in the morning he didn’t feel that he could play.

"He had some pains so he stayed out of the squad. That is the only thing I can say for now, let’s see what happens until the end of the market. I know there’s a proposal for him."
