Port Vale boss John Askey has outlined his ambition to get Nottingham Forest midfielder Jake Taylor back on loan.
Taylor departed Vale Park earlier this month after League Two sides decided to bring the 2019-20 season to an early end as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 21-year-old made 25 appearances in all competitions for Vale last season and is now back at the City Ground after his loan side's involvement in the campaign has finished.
Vale ended the season in seventh, one point outside the play-off places.
If the season is decided by points-per-game - one of the proposed ways to end the campaign - they would still finish just outside the top-six.
Hence why Askey is looking ahead to next season and contemplating getting Taylor back for a second spell.
Along with Taylor, Leicester City youngster Mitch Clark also impressed.
"Jake came in and did really well for a spell and got vital goals," Taylor told Stoke-on-TrentLive.
"It was a shame he got injured when he did, but others came in and replaced him and we didn’t miss him when he was out injured. That is full credit to the others.
"Then Mitch came in for that short spell and, again, he looked really good. He looked as though he had pushed on from the previous year.
"I was disappointed when he got sent off but I think both of them showed they fitted in straight away and did really well for us, as a lot of the players have done.
"It would be nice if we could get them back next season but, with them doing well for us, there might be clubs from higher leagues interested in them. If not then you would hope, of any of the clubs in League Two, they would come back to us.
"I think everybody can see they have good quality and fitted in well for the team as well."
Taylor, who can also play left-back, began his career at Manchester United but joined Forest in 2019.
He has yet to make a senior appearance for the Reds.
