Manager breaks silence on Gaetan Bong to Nottingham Forest transfer rumour

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter has addressed the future of reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Gaetan Bong.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Seagulls left-back, with between the two clubs.

It is being claimed that the move would be a loan deal, and Bong is due for a medical on Trentside ahead of a move to the City Ground.

Bong has fallen down the pecking order at the AMEX Stadium since the arrival of manager Graham Potter, with the experienced defender making just seven appearances so far this season, with four of those coming in the Premier League.

When asked in his press conference whether Bong had trained with the Brighton team, Potter said: "No, he's where you say (having a medical at Forest).

He added: “If he was to leave, after being such a good servant to the club, can you wish him well with his future?

"Of course. Nothing's confirmed, we're not at that stage where we can announce anything, but if and when something does happen, we can speak about it then."

Should Bong sign for the Reds, he would most likely provide competition for first-choice left-back Yuri Ribeiro, who arrived last summer from Benfica.

Forest have made two new signings during this month’s transfer window, with the latest striker Nuno da Costa on a permanent deal from French club Strasbourg.

The 28-year-old joins Adama Diakhaby as new faces at the City Ground, with the winger arriving on Trentside on loan from Huddersfield Town.
