Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, hired in March, resigned two days after welcoming new campaign leadership in a memo to staff describing his excitement. The memo was signed “On to victory.”

The Louisiana trip followed a Trump speech on Thursday night in which he said “I regret” causing “personal pain” with bad things he said. The Clinton camp said he has run a campaign of insults and had not changed.
