Police are investigating the death of a man who was wrongly identified by the Daily Mail as a suspect in the Ipswich murders case. In December, the paper published a front page picture of Gareth Roberts next to Steve Wright - who has been charged with murdering five women in Ipswich - when they were both working as stewards on the QE2. But the paper confused Roberts with Wright. When the mistake was pointed out the Mail immediately apologised and paid compensation to Roberts, who was found dead yesterday at his Welsh home alongside the body of a friend, Ian Stedham. Police say the deaths are "unexplained" but "not suspicious". (Via East Anglian Daily Times and South Wales Echo)
