Man with 'serious injuries' raced to hospital following early morning stabbing in Ballymun

A man was rushed to hospital following a stabbing in north Dublin in the early hours of the morning.

Gardai were at the scene of the incident at 3.15 am on Shangan Avenue in Ballymun.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was discovered with "serious injuries" and was taken to the Mater Hospital by ambulance where his condition is described as serious but stable.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a stabbing incident in Ballymun this morning, Sunday 16 May 2021.

"At approximately 3:15am Gardaí attended the scene of an incident on Shangan Avenue, Ballymun, where a man in his 30s was discovered with serious injuries. He was taken to the Mater Hospital by ambulance where his condition is described as serious but stable.

"The scene was preserved for a technical examination which has since taken place.

"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact them at Ballymun Garda station on 01 666 4400, the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
