Man with 'Irish accent' wanted over terrifying armed robbery in supermarket in Canada

Canadian police are searching for a man with an Irish accent who they believe carried out an armed robbery in a supermarket - and fled with cigarettes and cash.

The male entered the Plaza Grocery Rite Shop at Albemarle St in Halifax, Nova Scotia and told a shop employee he was armed with a gun.

It happened at about 7.20pm on Sunday, May 15.

Police in Halifax say the male demanded cash and fled the area on foot with a quantity of cigarettes and cash. The employee was not physically injured in the armed robbery.

Police have now released CCTV images of the robber in a bid to identify him. He is described as approximately 5’8”, with a medium build and spoke with an Irish accent.

He was wearing a black paisley bandana, a black and yellow baseball hat, a brown jumper, jeans and black and white sneakers.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the male to send tips securely via Crimestoppers in Nova Scotia’s email address at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
