Man with gaping slash wound in neck found calling for help in street

A man with serious slash wounds to his neck was found calling for help in the street.

Emergency services rushed the 56-year-old to hospital following the vicious assault on Leonard Street in St Helens , at around 7:20pm last night.

The victim was seen walking down Peckers Hill Road to Junction Lane shortly after the attack, asking passersby to help him.

His injuries are thought to be serious but not life threatening.

Merseyside Police have launched an investigation in the area to establish the full extent of what happened.

With officers remaining in the area until after midnight last night.




“You may have witnessed the incident, people making off from the scene, or have CCTV or dashcam footage from Leonard Street, Peckers Hill Lane or Junction Lane or the surrounding areas and I would urge anyone with information to please get in touch.”

Detective Chief Inspector, Steve Reardon, said: “The investigation is in its very early stages so we need witnesses to come forward. I would ask anyone with information on this incident, to please contact us.
