Man with 90% burns from horror fire has brutal message to trolls who call him ugly

A man who suffered 90% third-degree burns to his body when he was just three years old has slammed vile trolls who brand him "ugly."

Kenny Matthews, 34, from Sacramento in California, was caught up in a horrific house fire in 1990. He was playing with his toys while watching TV and heard a big bang from the living room window as the fire erupted.

While his mum was out at the supermarket, Kenny's grandad Sunny managed to get the tot out of the house and to safety through a window, but tragically died at the scene from smoke inhalation.

Kenny said: "I hear this commotion coming from the back with me and the windows just burst into flames.

“All I could do in that situation was just panic, but thank goodness I had my grandfather there with me.

“So, he had a solution to save me but at the same time, he was dying from the smoke inhalation.

“His solution was to pick me up under my arms and carry me over the window but unfortunately I got blazed up by the fire.”

The damage caused to Kenny's body left him unrecognisable, but he lives his life with a positive outlook. A full-time influencer, Kenny shares his life experiences on TikTok.

He says he wants to inspire other people "to be the best version of themselves every day."

Kenny shares videos with his 1.1 million followers explaining how he lives with his injuries day-to-day.

This includes showing how he opens bottles with his hands, which were deformed because of the burns, eats with chopsticks and how he gets ready in the morning.

But not everyone is admiring, and as with any social media site, trolls have targeted Kenny's page from time to time.

They leave nasty comments, calling him "ugly."

However, he hit back at the vile bullies in a video which has racked up more than 1 million views.

In the video, he said: "A lot of people call me ugly, and to me it’s like so? Who cares?

"Like that’s supposed to hurt me? Like really? Boo? But I know my purpose. Because my purpose makes me beautiful.

"Confidence makes you beautiful, inspiring others makes you beautiful which I do. Being a leader makes you beautiful. Being a follower, now that’s tough."

Kenny's followers and other fans have praised his stance, showering him with support on his page.

One user wrote: "Why do people hate others because of what they look like?? It’s 2021 we need to stop being so judgmental about the way others appearances are."

Kenny said: "It’s important to be the best version you can be every day, no matter what you look like."

He added: "Start looking to be more respected than anything.

"But I will say to everybody, that every time you wake up early in the morning name at least three things that you are grateful for that you have now. Not for what you don’t have."

The survivor added: "Hopefully I'm still here regardless of what's going on, and I hope I receive a lot of happiness and reach a point where I can announce to the world that I am finally happy."
