A pensioner landed a huge lottery payout after using numbers from a fortune cookie.
Charles W. Jackson Jr. from North Carolina scooped a £271 million payout through the American Powerball.
The hefty prize came his way after his granddaughter handed him a fortune cookie from a Vietnamese restaurant.
He cracked open the biscuit snack, read his fortune and decided to test out the strip of lucky numbers on the US wide lottery.
On Tuesday morning the 66-year-old woke up and checked his numbers.
Having misread the first digit of the winning draw, the retired retailer thought he'd scooped just shy of £40,000.
He called his wife with the good news and said he was headed to Raleigh to pick up his prize when he looked again at his ticket.
"I said, 'Dang, I got them all,'" he told reporters at a news conference.
Because he doesn't watch the news Mr Jackson Jr had no idea how much the prize was worth.
When he called his wife and asked her, she recommended Googling it.
"I don't know what to do with it. I hope it don't change me a lot," he said.
"I'm still going to wear my jeans — maybe newer ones."
Mr Jackson Jr said he plans to donate some of the money to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Wounded Warrior Project.
He is also going to give his brother £787,400 ($1,000,000) as they had both promised to do if either of them won big.
The former military shop owner plans to travel to Vietnam where he has previously been 20 times.
