Man who weighs 25st 'livid' as 'large' Amazon sleeping bag won't even zip up

A camper was less than happy when he bought a 'large' sleeping bag from Amazon - which 'looked like it would fit a child".

Dave Swan, 31, admits he is overweight but was astonished when he could not even zip up the sleeping bag, which was the first time he had ever experienced one.

The social work student, who lives in Stirling, managed to squeeze into the bag but could not fit his arms inside.

His wife Trisha, 28, had to zip it closed - and they will have to buy a new one before a planned camping trip this weekend to the Highlands.

It cost £12.67 from Amazon and was listed as 'large' from the Kounga Store.

Dave, who weighs 25 stone, said: "My wife picked up some camping stuff, we are starting to get out and about more.

"We thought about going camping and we got some tents and stuff.

"I'm definitely overweight but I'm trying to lose weight and have started hillwalking.

"But I'm too big to fit inside the sleeping bag, I'm 6ft 2 and quite heavy.

The Amazon advert gave no inkling of the tight squeeze ahead for Dave (Amazon SWNS)

"I think they should know they are not big enough.

"I couldn't get my arms zipped in.

"I had to get my wife to zip it up, and I had to lie on the couch to get it zipped up."

Dave said the sleeping bag is "not comfortable at all."

"I have never used one before, that's the first time I've tried," he added.

"It is a bad experience for the first time.

"It looks like it was made for kids.

"I'll be taking the duvet instead."

Posting a picture on Facebook he wrote: "Are these things a standard size or am a inside a weans one?

"It was like trying to squeeze a hippo into a hold-all."

A spokesman for Amazon said: "We will be contacting the customer directly to arrange a return."
