Man who threatened BMW driver before stealing car charged with 16 offences

A man has been charged with 16 offences after stealing a black BMW car and then crashing it into a fence.

The suspect, Ryan Brennan, was driving a black Nissan Juke that was involved in a crash with a blue Volkswagen Polo on Capesthorne Road, Warrington, shortly before 6.30am on August 20.

The 39-year-old then threatened another motorist at the scene, who was driving a black BMW, and stole the car.

After making off with the BMW, the suspect crashed into a fence on Poplars Avenue, which is just off Capesthorne Road.

Cheshire Police officers have reported that no one suffered any serious injuries during the incident.

Brennan was arrested after the incident but has since been charged with 16 offences.

The offences include; two counts of dangerous driving, threat to kill, two counts of assault by beating, two counts of attempted robbery, affray, robbery, possession of a knife in a public place, possession of a offensive weapon in a public place, assault of an emergency services worker, driving without insurance, failing to stop following a collision, failing to report a collision and driving without a licence.

Brennan appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 24 and was remanded in police custody.

He is set to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, September 21.
