A man who suffered burns in a Cardiff fast food restaurant is in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital.
South Wales Police were called to the incident at McDonald's in St Mary Street at about 5.45pm on Wednesday, October 2, after a fire was reported inside a ground-floor disabled toilet.
A 59-year-old man from Roath was taken by air ambulance to Morriston Hospital in Swansea where he is being treated for burns.
A police spokeswoman said the man is in a "critical but stable" condition.
Enquiries to establish the circumstances of the fire are on-going.
Officers said at this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
Police closed part of St Mary Street on Wednesday evening while South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service assisted officers dealing with the incident.
David Wainwright, 63, from Cardiff, was walking along St Mary Street when the incident unfolded.
"First of all three fire engines turned up and all the staff came out of McDonald’s," he said.
"The fire brigade went in and then five minutes later the police vans turned up. Then they cordoned it all off."
A McDonald's spokesman said the restaurant reopened on Thursday morning.
