A man who repeatedly stabbed a woman in the neck as well as a man who tried to intervene has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Thomas Foley will serve at least six years for brutal assault and attempted kidnap.
Foley knifed a 47-year-old woman, who was known to him, seven times in Tottenham.
A man in his 30s who did not know the victim or the attacker stepped in to help detain Foley.
Another man, aged 18, from the house in Tottenham, also helped to detain Foley and was stabbed twice.
Emergency services attended the scene in north London and took the female victim to hospital. She has reportedly made a full recovery since the incident in April.
The woman’s life was saved by the “good Samaritan”, according to police.
Foley had driven from Lowestoft with two knives with the intention of kidnapping two people he knew.
He pleaded guilty to assault, attempted kidnap and possession of an offensive weapon at his trial in September.
Police officer William Spencer said in a statement: "This was a brutal attack in a quiet residential street.
"Domestic violence in any form will not be tolerated and a dangerous offender has been brought to justice.
"I would like to praise the bravery of the local 'good Samaritan' that undoubtedly saved the victim's life."
