Man who lied to cops about having stanley knife denies breaking court order

A man who was given an order for an aggressive incident involving his partner has denied breaching it.

John Paul Hardie appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week to answer the crown's accusation against him.

However, his solicitor Paul Belardo said: "He denies this breach on medical grounds".

Hardie, of Kirkland Crescent in Kilsyth, behaved aggressively in March 2016, placing his partner in a state of fear and alarm while shouting and swearing.

On the same date, he was searched by police and failed to disclose he had a stanley knife in his pocket, meaning the officer was at risk of injury.

Hardie will return to court on October 1 for a proof diet into the alleged breach.
