Man who killed Fort Worth-area church gunman: I was not going to allow evil to succeed

FORT WORTH, Texas _ A man who said he shot and killed a gunman inside a White Settlement church thanked God on Monday for his ability to take down "evil."

Jack Wilson of Granbury, who is running for Hood County commissioner, posted an account of Sunday's events on his on his campaign Facebook page Monday. He said he was one of two volunteer security members inside West Freeway Church of Christ killed a gunman after he fatally shot two men during a service.

The gunman has not been identified.

"I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today," Wilson posted on the Facebook page. "The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exist and I had to take out an active shooter in church. I'm thankful to GOD that I have been blessed with the ability and desire to serve him in the role of head of security at the church. I am very sad in the loss of two dear friends and brothers in CHRIST, but evil does exist in this world and I and other members are not going to allow evil to succeed. Please pray for all the members and their families in this time. Thank you for your prayers and understanding."

Several people posted in the Facebook page Hood County Breaking News! and also identified Wilson as the man who took out the gunman.

According to his Facebook page, Wilson worked at On Target Firearms Training Academy in Fort Worth.
