Man 'who isn't actually homeless' arrested for begging outside retail park

A man has been arrested for begging outside a retail park in Trafford.

Police said the man was detained outside the White City Retail Park in Stretford earlier today (Thursday).

Officers said in a tweet on the GMP Stretford page that 'he is not actually homeless', but had been arrested for begging.

'Concerns' had been raised about him previously and he had been issued warnings, police added.

The man 'will be offered help in custody'.

The GMP tweet read: "Male arrested outside @WhiteCityRetail today for begging.

"He had been warned previously for doing this but have listened to your concerns of him approaching cars etc.

"He will be offered help whilst in custody too.

"He’s isn’t actually homeless."
