Man who hit partner with baby gate let off hook while on holiday in Majorca

An Airdrie man who hit his wife with a baby gate has been admonished – despite missing his court appointment to go on holiday to Majorca.

Graham Fingland was previously given the opportunity to be of good behaviour before being sentenced for his actions at his Hamilton Drive home on May 21.

The 43-year-old was due to appear in the dock at Airdrie Sheriff Court last Wednesday, but his defence solicitor Paul Belardo said: “He’s not here because his wife had pre-booked a holiday for both of them to Majorca.

“I’m provided with documentation to prove that. I believe he has been of good behaviour since he was last here.”

Sheriff David Young accepted the explanation and admonished and dismissed Fingland in his absence.
