Man who hired billboard in his search for love has had 2,300 applicants... now he has a date for Valentine's Day

A man who rented a billboard in his search for love has landed himself a date for Valentine's Day.

Mark Rofe paid £425 to advertise himself on Fairfield Street in Manchester city centre after failing to find love on Tinder.

The billboard encouraged fellow singletons to apply to go on a date with Mark.

"Single? Date Mark. This could be the sign you've been waiting for," the billboard read.

The response was enormous.

The 30-year-old received more than 2,300 applications in two weeks.

After sifting through the applications, Mark, from Sheffield, has a date lined up for Valentine's Day.

Mark previously told the Manchester Evening News he hired the billboard as all of his friends were settling down.

He said: "I have not been on any dates for a while.

"Not many people swipe right on Tinder. I've been struggling to find a match.

"All of my friends are married or in long term relationships.

"I thought 'what could I do to stand out?' If everyone is online, maybe I could take things offline."

Mark, who works in marketing, describes himself as 'extremely handsome and modest' in his website biography.

He even has a 'facts and stats' section, in which he states he has kissed 'over three girls'.

The bachelor adds that he has 'two friends'.
