It is not believed he lived in the tower block, close to Sefton Park.
One neighbour said Mr Jones fell from a communal balcony, with netting on the side of the tower block visibly ripped away.

One told the ECHO: "I heard a big thud or bang, but thought it was fireworks or a car.
"Then I looked over the balcony outside and there was a body."

Another man said: "It's horrible. I saw the guy lying right in front of us, and we had to get inside using the back door."
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "The man was pronounced dead at the scene."
